I am Jessie Kosorok Mellor, energy medicine practitioner, and owner of HealingLux. I have a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology. I taught Psychology at Pima Community College for five years following my four year graduate research and teaching experience at the University of Arizona.
Energy Medicine has been a part of my life for nearly a decade. My cousin is an Energy Medicine practitioner in Washington state and she has always supported my health when allopathic medicine was unable to offer a successful option for me. In 2011, I suffered a botched wisdom tooth removal. My nerve was damaged and I experienced constant shooting pains and horrible headaches for months. I was told that surgery was my only option. I was terrified of having the procedure because it involved slicing open my neck, peeling back my face, removing a piece of my jaw bone, grafting a cadaver nerve and then piecing me back together. Due to my extreme level of pain, I was willing to sell my soul to feel better so I agreed and scheduled my surgery. The week before my scheduled procedure, a story broke that a woman in Florida underwent a similar procedure and the electrical equipment malfunctioned and burnt her entire face. Needless to say, I was terrified. My cousin told me to contact an Energy Medicine practitioner in my area to help me with my fears. I did and was able to travel to where the surgery would be held in Phoenix.
I was in the gown, on the table, ready to be transferred to surgery, and the nurse informed me that my routine pregnancy test came back positive. I was unable to have my surgery because I was three weeks pregnant! I was in shock. As a professor of Human Sexuality, I felt somehow this made me either way unqualified to teach my subject matter or perhaps too qualified – I wasn’t sure which one but I was absolutely certain it was impossible for me to be pregnant. Three pregnancy tests later, I finally believed the nurse and went home – still very much in pain but somehow also more relieved than ever. Allopathic medicine had no safe pain management options for the sweet growing baby I was responsible for, so I became a regular client of Amy Schill in Tucson, AZ (she is a goddess and if you are ever in Tucson, I highly recommend making an appointment). Within months of regular appointments, my pain went from unbearable (a 12 out of 10) to somewhat tolerable (about a 5 out of 10). After a few more months, my pain dropped to about a 2 out of 10. Today, I am virtually pain free and our family has the added blessing of our daughter.
During that journey, I adored my teaching position at the community college; however, I knew something in my life was still missing. I wanted to help more people become aware of the amazing properties of Energy Medicine. I read everything I could about the subject and found any opportunity to include Energy Medicine information in my lectures. In the beginning of 2015 we decided to relocate to the Poway/Rancho Bernardo area. My husband is a freelance graphic designer and I am now free to raise my children, build my Energy Medicine practice, and continue my Energy Medicine studies. I have completed the EEM-CP year two and look forward to continuing with their year three and four. I believe we can never stop learning or growing and always want to provide the most up to date knowledge in the field for my clients. The greatest gift I have found from my Energy Medicine experience is how beneficial simple exercises can be for my entire family. My husband and children benefit and it is an easy addition to any lifestyle if you are interested in seeing positive change for you and your family. I have also met some of the most amazing people in the Energy Medicine community.
